In respect of the Central Army Records Office, we continue to provide the serving and discharged member's with copies of their records free of charge.

In 2001, Defence transferred custody of the WWII records to the National Archives of Australia (NAA). This coincided with the release of the DVA  WWII Nominal Roll on the Internet (http://www.ww2roll.gov.au/). However, CARO continue Army's commitment to its ex-service community and will obtain copies of the service record for the ex-digger on request. Relatives however, should initially address their enquiries to NAA. If after having received a copy of the record, assistance is still required then they should feel free to contact CARO for assistance.

The post 1947 records remain under CARO's control and data will only be released with the written consent of the member or ex-member.

  • CARO also provides a service for the Ex-service Organisations:-
    • can confirm service,
    • or with written consent, full service details to assist in membership etc;
    • and can provide a eulogy service

Hope this is of some use to you
