Colours
of 34th Infantry Battalion, The Illawarra Regiment |
|
The green flag
is the original Regimental Banner (or flag) presented to the 34th Battalion AIF and
later converted to a Regimental Colour for the 34th Infantry Battalion,
the Illawarra Regiment which inherited the Battle Honours of 34 AIF.
The older Union Flag is the original
King's banner presented to the 34th Bn AIF and
converted to a King's Colour for the 34th Infantry Battalion Illawarra
Regt. The
blue flag is the Regimental Colour from the second set of Colours for the same Unit. The 2
different flags based on the Union Jack are the two Sovereign's (or
Royal) Colours of
the Unit. (The earlier one a King's Colour and the later one a Queen's
Colour).
