Shoulder patches of the Army of the Republic of Viet Nam (ARNV) 1960-1975

  • It used to be said that weapons issued to the ARVN Forces were good value on the 2nd hand market because "they had never been fired and only ever dropped once".
  • Screen printed shoulder patch of the South Vietnamese Popular Forces. It is a circular patch bordered by an orange wreath on a yellow background. In the centre is a blue and white three pointed device with red arrows intersecting the angles.
  • Screen printed shoulder patch of the South Vietnamese Regional Forces. The badge is a vertically aligned black hexagon containing a design of a crossed sword and cannon over a suit of armour on a yellow background.
  • Screen printed pocket patch of the South Vietnam Popular Self Defence Force. The badge is a black bordered circle containing a blue wreath in which are the black silhouettes of soldiers against a blue background carrying a red and gold striped South Vietnamese flag. Below is a blue banner containing the words 'NHAN-DAN TU-VE' in black.
  • Screen printed pocket patch of the South Vietnamese 'Peoples Action Teams'. The badge is a black bordered circle with a background of blue with a red rising sun on which are superimposed two ears of rice in black and gold, a brown rifle, a black plough and a black megaphone emitting three gold rays.
  • Screen printed shoulder patch of the Twelfth Armoured Regiment, South Vietnamese Army. The badge is shield shaped with a light blue border. The badge is divided diagonally, the top half in white with the number '12' printed in a dark blue circle. The bottom half is dark blue. A light blue tank is printed in the centre of the badge, facing forward.
  • Woven shoulder patch of the Thirty Eighth Artillery Regiment, South Vietnamese Army. The badge is a vertically divided shield. The left side is white with a red border, the right side is red with a white border. In the centre is the white bordered black silhouette of an artillery piece. The number '38' is woven in white in the top right hand corner.
  • Screen printed pocket patch of the Republic of South Vietnam Air Force. The badge is in the shape of a blue shield containing a red, black and white dragon with red and gold striped wings representing the flag of the Republic of South Vietnam. Below the shield is the motto 'TO-QUOC KHONG GIAN' in gold on a black scroll.
  • Woven pocket patch of the Republic of South Vietnam Marine Corps. The badge is a green circle with a narrow gold border. The circle contains a golden globe on which is superimposed a red five pointed star containing a stylised map of Vietnam in gold. The globe is surmounted by an eagle with wings outstretched. Behind the globe is a stylised anchor. At the top are the words 'DANH-DU TO-QUOC'.
  • Screen printed shoulder patch of the Airborne Division of the Army of the Republic of South Vietnam. The badge is a crimson square with an inset white border. In the centre is a yellow bordered circle containing a blue parachute and a black, white and gold eagle.
