Forces cloth badges have been worn on uniform sleeves as long as there
have been uniforms.
Most of course are badges of rank.
Many were not. Most were official, some were not but were tolerated.
Some were supplied at public expense, others had to be purchased by the
individual or by Regimental Funds.
